Philip Weissman is a partner in the New York office, bringing over a decade of experience in representing air carriers and others within the aviation industry in both federal and state court litigation, as well as advising on regulations that affect the aviation sector.
As a litigator, Philip has represented several of the world’s largest air carriers at trial and appellate levels. He has handled numerous high-profile cases, including those involving significant aviation accidents and aircraft damage.
Philip also provides guidance on DOT, FAA, and TSA regulations. He has assisted carriers in adhering to DOT economic regulations, including consumer protection and foreign ownership rules, as well as FAA certification requirements.
Philip serves as the Chair of the New York City Bar Air & Space Law Committee and the Treasurer of the International Bar Association’s Aviation Law Committee. He has authored and presented on a range of aviation law topics, such as jurisdiction, Montreal/Warsaw Convention liability, sustainability, advanced air mobility, drones, and consumer protection law.
He has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers from 2020 to 2023. In December 2024, he was recognized by eVTOL Insights’ in its Ones to Watch Special Report for his work in the area of advanced air mobility.
He graduated from Duke University School of Law in 2012 and is admitted to the Bar in New York.
